Join us for an exciting season of films and lectures held in the garden of the Freud Museum!

Enjoy our series of film screenings in the atmospheric setting of Sigmund Freud’s Hampstead garden. For each of our Silent Cinema screenings, every attendee will receive headphones and a deck chair. We invite everyone to bring their own refreshments or a picnic to enjoy throughout the film.

About the film: Melancholia (2011) dir. Lars von Trier

Length: 136 min

As the mysterious planet Melancholia threatens to collide with Earth, Justine finds herself battling with her inner demons instead of celebrating her new marriage to Michael. A beautiful movie about the end of the world, Lars von Trier has created a mesmerising apocalyptic film with a truly spectacular finale.

Format:

  • 18:30 Doors open, visit the Freud Museum, choose seats (first come, first serve)
  • 19:00 Pre-film talk with Mary Wild of PROJECTIONS
  • 19:40 or when it gets dark, film begins

You are welcome to bring:

  • Food or drink to enjoy throughout the film. We will have water/non-alcoholic drinks on site but please feel free to bring your own refreshments (wine, beer, sandwiches)
  • A blanket in case it gets cold later in the evening
  • Notebook and pen for making notes during the lecture before the film begins

Please note that we may reschedule the event if bad weather is forecasted. We will be in touch with you in advance.
