Join us for films and lectures held in the garden of the Freud Museum!

Enjoy our series of film screenings in Sigmund Freud’s Hampstead garden. For each of our Silent Cinema screenings, every attendee will receive headphones and a deck chair. We invite everyone to bring their own refreshments or a picnic to enjoy throughout the film.

About the film: A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) dir. Wes Craven

Enjoy this classic slasher horror film in the atmospheric setting of suburban Hampstead. In Wes Craven’s classic slasher film, several Midwestern teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a disfigured midnight mangler who preys on the teenagers in their dreams — which, in turn, kills them in reality. After investigating the phenomenon, Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) begins to suspect that a dark secret kept by her and her friends’ parents may be the key to unravelling the mystery, but can Nancy and her boyfriend Glen (Johnny Depp) solve the puzzle before it’s too late?

Format:

  • 18:30 Doors open, visit the Freud Museum, choose seats (first come, first serve)
  • 19:00 Pre-film talk with Mary Wild of PROJECTIONS
  • 19:40 or when it gets dark, the film will begin!

You are welcome to bring:

  • Food or drink to enjoy throughout the film. We will provide water/non-alcoholic drinks on site but encourage you to bring anything else you would like to consume (wine, beer, sandwiches…)
  • A blanket in case it gets cold later in the evening
  • Notebook and pen for making notes during the lecture before the film begins

Please note that we may reschedule the event if bad weather is forecasted. We will be in touch with you in advance.
