Join us for a series of evening events at the Freud Museum titled Provocations, or Difficult Conversations in the Home of the Talking Cure curated by Rachel Cooke. In-house only.
In tonight’s event Hadley Freeman will be in conversation with Philippa Perry.
“Recounting her years of anorexia with uncommon honesty, Hadley Freeman makes a powerful case for finding the will to live.”
From the ages of fourteen to seventeen, Hadley Freeman lived in psychiatric wards after developing anorexia, one of the most widely known but least understood mental illnesses. For the following twenty years, she wrestled various other forms of destructive behaviour as her anorexia mutated. In her book Good Girls, she combines vivid memoir with deep reporting on the issues around anorexia in an effort better to understand both it, and her own recovery.
