Freud’s Lost Lecture is a six minute film made by Jane Thorburn and written by the acclaimed author Deborah Levy.
Levy imagines a lost lecture written by Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. It investigates a hysterical woman dancing through time, snow leopards lapping milk in the kitchen of Freud’s last house, and a journey under the ground on a ghost train.
Deborah Levy is a British playwright, novelist, and poet. Her work has been staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company and she is the author of novels including Beautiful Mutants, Swallowing Geography, Billy and Girl, and the Booker-shortlisted novels Swimming Home and Hot Milk.
Jane Thorburn has directed and produced many music and arts series for Channel 4 and BBC 2, including original operas, dance films and 3 series of the innovative arts magazine Alter Image. Jane has made several documentaries and short films on location in Nigeria, Cuba and the UK, including the award winning Joy, It’s Nina. Jane is currently a Reader in Television Production at the University of Westminster.
