His ground-breaking theories about dream interpretation and psychological types have often been overshadowed by charges that he was anti-Semitic and a Nazi sympathizer.<\/p>\n<p>In his pioneering work on Carl Gustav Jung, author Jay Sherry took a fresh look at all aspects of his life and work, and considered the allegations against Jung in the broader context of his views on culture, politics, and race. In doing so, he provides a carefully considered, historically informed perspective on a figure whose legacy has been misunderstood by admirers and detractors alike.<\/p>\n<p><em>Carl Gustav Jung: Avant-Garde Conservative<\/em> by Jay Sherry won the Gradiva Award for Best Book from the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis in 2011<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jay Sherry<\/strong> is an independent historian of psychoanalysis and German intellectual history. He has lectured widely and written for a variety of psychoanalytic publications, primarily about the life and work of Carl Jung. He holds a PhD from the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin, and lives in New York.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gary Lachman<\/strong> is the author of several books linking consciousness, culture, and the western esoteric tradition, including <em>Jung the Mystic: The Esoteric Dimensions of Carl Jung&#8217;s Life and Teaching (Tarcher\/Penguin 2010).<\/em> Lachman writes frequently for many journals in the US and UK, and lectures on his work in the US, UK, and Europe.
