Susie Orbach and Lisa Appignanesi look back on the history of Women and Psychoanalysis, the impetus of second-wave feminism, and tease out some of the questions, achievements and issues that have been fore-fronted in the ever shifting decades since.

Speakers:
Lisa Appignanesi OBE is the author of many books, including Everyday Madness, Mad, Bad, and Sad, and Freud’s Women (with John Forrester), a spring board for the Women and Freud Exhibition. A former Chair of the Freud Museum and the Royal Society of Literature, she was President of English PEN and is on the Executive Board of the Freud Museum Vienna.
Susie Orbach is a psychoanalyst and writer. She is the author of On Eating, The Impossibility of Sex, In Therapy and co-wrote What Do Women Want with Luise Eichenbaum as well as Understanding Women: A Feminist Psychoanalytic Approach and Between Women, Love, Anger, Envy and Competition in Women’s Friendships. She has been a Trustee and is an Honorary Fellow of the Freud Museum. She is a consultant psychotherapist with The Balint Consultancy.
