The Freud Museum London is proud to announce the appointment of Anna Jobson as the new director of the Museum.
The Freud Museum’s principal aim is to promote, encourage, improve, advance and disseminate knowledge and appreciation of the life, work, medical, psychoanalytic and other scientific activities of Sigmund and Anna Freud, and to stimulate interest in their clinical, intellectual and cultural legacies.
Anna is currently an independent strategist and change leader, with over twenty-five years’ experience of working in the arts, culture and education sectors. Her institutional roles include leadership positions at Tate, where she spent the first decade of her career, Arts Council
England, where she was Director of Strategy and University of the Arts London, where she was Director of Change. As a consultant she has worked with many of the country’s leading cultural organisations, and she has also worked internationally.
She originally studied history and art history at Cambridge University and the Courtauld Institute and is currently studying Psychodynamic and Systemic Approaches to Consulting and Leadership at the Tavistock and Portman Trust/University of Essex. Anna succeeds Acting Director Dan Feeney, who has led the museum since April 2025. Dan will remain with the Museum as a Change Consultant to support Anna until the end of the year. Dr Giuseppe Albano MBE concluded his three year tenure leading the museum earlier this year.
Anna Jobson said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to the role of Director of the Freud Museum London, one of my favourite museums. I can’t imagine a professional opportunity that better brings together my experience, skills and interests and I am looking forward to leading the Museum into its next chapter”.
Sue Prevezer KC, Chair of the Freud Museum London said: “The Board of Trustees is delighted to welcome Anna as the new Director. She brings a wealth of experience from the cultural and heritage sector, passion for the Museum, and an evident energy to lead us in becoming a truly 21st century museum ahead of our 40th Anniversary in 2026. Anna joins us at a pivotal time as we build on a critically acclaimed exhibition programme whilst also reaching record numbers of Further and Higher Education students, demonstrating the ongoing relevance of Freud’s work and the importance of the Freud Museum.”
