Session description

Sigmund Freud drew intriguing parallels between psychotic and everyday mental phenomena. Although his own clinical experience in this particular area was limited, today many psychoanalysts work successfully with psychosis.

This session is an opportunity to explore schizophrenia from a psychoanalytic perspective, to understand better Freud’s views on the meaning and role of a symptom and to learn about contemporary psychodynamic approaches to treatment.

In this session:

  • Causes and characteristics of schizophrenia
  • Psychotic crisises
  • Hallucinations and delusions
  • Psychodynamic therapeutic approaches
  • Time for discussion!

Made to measure!

‘Schizophrenia’ has been devised as an enrichment session for A Level Psychology students, but can be tailored for KS4 and HE students, either as an introduction to the topic or to consolidate classroom learning.

We use a flexible format and adjust each session to the interests and abilities of each group. Let us know your requirements when you book!
