Art and the Unconscious workshop

FULLY BOOKED - waiting list available

Explore your art making and its relationship to the unconscious in this one-off workshop facilitated by Art Therapists from Goldsmiths. Art materials such as clay, paint, pastels etc. will be provided and you will have an opportunity to make art spontaneously using the medium of your choice within the boundaries of the group.

Playfulness, creativity and interaction will be encouraged. We will explore how our encounter with the creative process and reflections on the artworks made in the group can potentially illuminate our understanding of internal worlds.

Three tutors from the MA Art Psychotherapy course at Goldsmiths, University of London, will facilitate the workshop. Lisa Rimmer is the lead tutor on working with international art therapy students on the MA. She has developed her practice with children within schools. Susan Rudnik facilitates experiential groups on the MA and lectures on art therapy with adolescents. She works with children and adolescents in paediatrics within the NHS. Kris Catchpole is a supervisor and part of the placement development team on the MA. She works in private practice with adults and children, she also has significant experience in working in the family courts system.

All three are practicing artists and contributors to the MA Art Psychotherapy tutors group exhibition 'Some unconscious things' in the Cabinet in the Exhibition room of the museum as part of the Festival of the Unconscious.
