UCL Mellon Programme and Freud Museum London proudly present

The Museum as Film Set: A three-part film series to mark the 25th anniversary of the Freud Museum London

Cinema has long expressed fascination for museums and exhibitions, and museums are increasingly willing to welcome the moving image within their precincts. This series proposes to look at this complex relationship from a psychoanalytic perspective, by considering the camera’s capacity to ‘work through’ museological spaces and histories.

Tuesday 25 October, 6-8.30pm

Followed by a conversation between anthropologist, author, and filmmaker Hugh Brody, and psychoanalyst and film scholar Andrea Sabbadini

Tuesday 1 November, 6-8.30pm
Le Centre Georges Pompidou (1977) by Roberto Rossellini
Followed by a conversation between art historian Sarah Wilson and UCL Mellon Fellow Antony Hudek

Tuesday 8 November, 6-8.30pm
Russian Ark (2002) by Alexander Sokurov
Followed by a commentary by film scholar Ian Christie

Each screening will be followed by drinks and a discussion.
