Film Screening and Discussion

A joint event with the Austrian Cultural Forum to mark Refugee Week 2011.

Following the screening of the short film Double Exposure, directed by Dr Bea Lewkowicz, there will be a panel discussion with some of the interviewees who feature in the film, including Otto Deutsch, Elly Miller, Wolf Suschitzky and Professor Peter Pulzer. The discussion will be chaired by Dr. Anthony Grenville and will address the reception of the Austrian refugees in Britain in the 1930s, their impact on British culture, and their identities today. The film includes interviews with a number of Austrian refugees, including Anton Walter Freud, grandson to Sigmund Freud.
