Join us for a talk called, “The Clue Is Always In The Gaze”, by Deidré Wallace, a relationship and corporate therapist. She will share a particular insight that provides her clients with an important clue that originates in the early years and as a result, determines how we relate within our personal and business relationships in adulthood. She will also explain how this can be connected to our career choices.

Her observations include a few unsettling revelations, but necessary nevertheless. One of her revelations was disclosed to her, via a video made by James and Joyce Robertson. Joyce Robertson was a student who worked with Anna Freud and in 1965 she and her husband worked with John Bolby at the Tavistock Centre, observing infants.

This talk will benefit psychology students or anyone interested in the deeper dynamics of relationships and how we may choose our careers.

SPEAKER

Deidré Wallace

Having completed a Bachelor of Arts degree which included Child Psychology, and having volunteered in a children’s home, Deidré Wallace left South Africa for London. After completing her studies in Adult Education, she was offered teaching positions in various adult education colleges – but also, temporary teaching positions at St Mary’s Hospital for day patients as well as Holloway and Pentonville prisons. This, as well as mentoring in schools for the Hanover Foundation provided her with many tools for the next stage of her career. She was offered a private practice, but in order to inherit the clients, she then trained as a relationship therapist with London Marriage Guidance Council. Understanding how adults learn, she then developed a step-by-step relationship knowledge system which describes exactly how and why we attract our personal and business relationships. She writes for Thrive Global and Medium, and has written and was indeed, interviewed by the Independent’s IndyConversations100. Deidré Wallace has had a private practice for over 25 years and she now also offers corporate therapy.
