This is a recording of a talk originally delivered on 7 September 2020.

The Freud Museum is pleased to welcome Dr Sheri Jacobson, founder and Clinical Director of Harley Therapy, to talk about her initiatives and approaches to making therapy an accessible service for all. She will also address the free service set up for NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic and assess its successes and limitations.

Those on the frontline have risked their wellbeing and saved thousands of lives. This responsibility and pressure can take an extensive toll on one’s mental health. Since April, London-based therapy platform, Harley Therapy, has been offering a free 1-to-1 service exclusively for National Health Service workers. It has been able to provide online support sessions for NHS staff who have felt exhausted, traumatised or overloaded by the pandemic.

Dr. Sheri Jacobson is retired psychotherapist who is the founder and Clinical Director of Harley Therapy – a leading group of private psychotherapy clinics headquartered in Harley Street which has conducted over 250,000 therapy sessions since 2006. In the desire to make therapy more affordable and accessible she co-founded HarleyTherapy.com, an online marketplace offering services from over 500 mental health practitioners. Her training in therapy spanned 10 years including a PhD on Freud and Free Association at Regent’s College (University). She is the host of the podcast TherapyLab and currently works with forward-looking companies in the City to formulate and realise their wellbeing strategies.
