Delve into the mind of Sigmund Freud!

Learning visits are a great way to get a deeper insight into Sigmund Freud, Anna Freud and psychoanalysis.

Groups have exclusive access to the house and garden and can be facilitated by a subject expert.

We welcome a wide variety of groups, from students to service users.

Facilitated visit

Includes a welcome/introduction with a member of our education team and a discussion/Q&A after you’ve had a look around.

Discussion sessions are unstructured but we do attend to the specific interests and aims of each group.

Facilitated visit + session

The same as a facilitated visit, but also includes one of our learning sessions.

Sessions can be delivered in person during the visit or online on a separate date.

Self-guided visit

For groups wishing to explore the house independently.

These visits are not facilitated by a member of our education team.

All group visitors are welcome to listen to a free audio guide on their phones during the visit (please bring your own headphones).

Universities
“Never before have I enjoyed that pleasant sensation which may be called academic happiness.”Sigmund Freud

We welcome university groups studying a broad range of subjects across the arts, humanities, science and medicine.

A group visit is a great way to examine Freud’s ideas, legacy and place in history as well as in the contemporary world.

For many university groups it is an opportunity to develop an appreciation of the value of psychoanalysis as a critical tool that can be applied in their own field of study.

Learning visits are especially popular with psychology students and societies.

You can also combine a facilitated visit with one of our acclaimed learning sessions!

Senior Citizens

Learning is for life!

We welcome Senior Citizen groups, including U3A and independent societies and associations.

A visit to the museum is a great way to keep connected, active and learning.

Freud himself was 82 when he arrived in London as a refugee. His attitudes to ageing are often a point of discussion, although we find that many older visitors are more interested in connecting with Freud’s interest in childhood! Others simply wish to marvel at the house, collections and garden.

Please note that do not currently have a lift giving access to the first floor, or an accessible toilet. Further information can be found on our accessibility page.
