“The interpretation of dreams is the royal road to a knowledge of the unconscious activities of the mind.”Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams provides a groundbreaking theory of dreams and an innovative method for interpreting them that captivates readers to this day.
Freud’s theory of dreams is also one of the best ways to grasp Freud’s theory of psychoanalysis in a practical way.
This online session will guide you through Freud’s theory of dreams. Using plenty of sample dreams, we will closely follow how Freud builds his argument that dreams are the disguised fulfilments of repressed infantile wishes.
In this session:
- Freud’s method of interpreting dreams
- Freud’s theory of dreams
- Manifest and latent content
- Dream distortion
- The role of childhood and the unconscious
- What Freud’s theory tells us about the mind
- Plenty of time for discussion and debate!
Please note: this is not a dream-interpretation workshop and participants will not be able to discuss their own dreams.

“The session worked brilliantly, we will be booking another one soon.”
“We are based an hour and a half away and have a large cohort so this is a really good way for students to access extra curricular content.”
