The Trustees and staff of the Freud Museum London are deeply saddened to hear news of the death last week of award-winning journalist and author Rachel Cooke, aged 56. Cooke curated a series of Provocations or Difficult Conversations at the Museum in 2024, bringing some of our country’s sharpest minds together to explore challenging topics with the humour, candour and courage that characterised her writing. As the Museum moves towards its 40th anniversary in 2026, Cooke’s series will have a significant legacy in underlining the potential of the Freud Museum as a place where difficult, and potentially controversial, issues can be brought to the table for exploration, reflection and debate.
