Sigmund Freud

In this session:
- Freud’s own religious background and his atheism
- Neurosis as a personal religion
- Religion as a collective neurosis
- Freud’s response to the arguments for the existence of God
- His views on conscience
- Is atheism psychologically possible?

‘Freud and Religion’ has been devised as an enrichment session for students taking A Levels in Religious Studies or Philosophy, but can be tailored for KS4 and HE students, either as an introduction to the topic or to consolidate classroom learning.
