"FREUD TODAY" - PERSONAL VIEWS
This section of the website will contain occasional items responding to events in the world, both serious and seemingly frivolous. I have also included some more 'autobiographical' pieces. They will show how Freud himself or psychoanalytic ways of thought might respond to everyday situations and issues of the day. As such, they are personal observations and do not represent any official position of the Freud Museum. All of the pieces are written by Ivan Ward, director of education of the Freud Museum, unless otherwise stated. Readers are invited to contribute similarly short pieces which link Freud's ideas to contemporary social issues or other matters of interest to them. Some confusion has arisen from the style of these pieces. When I, or other contributors, use phrases such as 'Freud would have said', 'Freud would have felt' etc - this is clearly a rhetorical conceit intended to evoke the idea of 'Freud Today'. All such comments should be read as meaning 'I believe that Freud would have said...' etc.
