Salman Akhtar is an Indian born psychoanalyst and poet. 
He is Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour at Thomas Jefferson University, and the author of many books, including Freud along the Ganges (2005), Objects of Desire (2005) and Listening to others: Developmental and clinical aspects of empathy and attunement (2007)
